Ohio-born Mark Grattan is a multi-disciplinary designer who has worked for two decades in skilled wood craftsmanship in New York City, Mexico City, and Rio de Janeiro. His work is a dialogue between color and texture, speaking to instinctive inspirations derived from tropical modernism, modern contemporary Italian design, and the Art Deco movement. A string of successes has propelled the Pratt Institute-trained designer to the next level, allowing him to perfect his unabashedly eclectic yet cohesive design aesthetic. Some of his high-profile clients and collaborators include Megan Rapinoe, Tracee Ellis Ross, Kelela, and Solange Knowles. He is the winner of HBO Max's Ellen's Next Great Designer show and has graced multiple covers of prominent international design magazines for his work in the field. Numerous publications have featured Grattan's work, including Architectural Digest, Dezeen, Elle Decor, PIN-UP, Surface, Sight Unseen, T Magazine, Town & Country, Wallpaper, and Whitewall. His most recent accomplishments include two permanent collection acquisitions by The Brooklyn Museum (Brooklyn, USA) and The National Museum of African American History and Culture (Washington, D.C., USA). At the same time, he continues to be a pioneer and activist for the elevation of Black bodies in design.
