After graduating from Istituto Universitario di Architettura di Venezia, Gaetano Pesce joined Gruppo N, experimenting with performance and kinetic art. He continued his curious approach, designing the UP series of self-inflating furniture (UP 7 and UP 2 exhibited in Different Tendencies) in 1969 and the Moloch lamp in about 1970 for Cassina division, Bracciodiferro. After participating in Italy: New Domestic Landscape in 1972, Pesce ultimately moved to New York City to teach at Cooper Union in 1983. Pesce continues to design experimental and iconic work from his studio in Brooklyn.
