Archizoom Associati designed the Sanremo with a playful nod to the Mediterranean tourist city of the same name. Taking the shape of a stylized palm tree, the lucite “fronds” light up when the lamp is illuminated. The Sanremo is a kitschy reaction to “Good Design,” a concept from which so many designers under the umbrella of the Radical design movement tried to break away.
